MAN OF THE MONTH: JAMIE CHARMAN

We spoke with Jamie Charman, our Director’s husband (they just celebrated their 10 year wedding anniversary) Director of Charman Property Co Buyers Agency and the utmost awesome Dad to their 3 kids, Lenny 9, Joe 7 and Gus 1.

He shares his insights on fatherhood, fashion and footy! We actually have him to thank for the reason why Calexico Man exists. Nicky couldn’t find him the right clothes that he liked or fit him (he is 6 foot 7’) in Brisbane back in 2015 so the other half of Calexico was born!

What’s the best thing about being a Dad?

The best thing about being a dad is waking up every day to a new  conversation and new challenges. Watching them grow up every week is exciting. I love being active with them and they keep you young - and they make me laugh!

What are you looking forward to this Summer?

Being with friends and family around the pool up at our farm in Eumundi. We turn up the tunes and fire up our pizza oven! Dancing is always on the cards!

Funniest Moment As A Dad?

It was Joe’s last birthday and we took the kids through McDonalds drive through for a treat. The toy at the time in the Happy Meal happened to be AFL collector Footy Cards. I coincidentally had some of my old footy cards in the glovebox so I distracted the kids and Nicky and slipped one each into their packs that they received. The kids were shocked, so excited and told all their mates. Unfortunately now when they read this interview my secret will be out!!

What do you love most about your job?

We get to purchase properties for people that they would never be able to find themselves. We alleviate all the stress that families experience when trying to buy a home. The satisfaction in helping people buy their dream home is very rewarding!

What’s your favourite designers at Calexico Man?

I love Frescobol Carioca. Their laidback designs are perfect for our Queensland weather. I’m really looking forward to a new brand that I introduced to Nicky - Perto D’Ego - great party shirts for the upcoming festive season. They’re due instore in a few weeks.

Are there any lessons you learnt during your football career that you have passed down to your children?

Leigh (Matthews) always taught us to have a positive influence on people. Never let your own bad day affect others around you.
